Lesson 03 : Greetings


Lesson 03: You will learn how to greet people. Have fun studying with your teacher!


Step 1 (Step 1 )



When itʼ’s morning you say: Good morning! (Good morning!)
When itʼ’s afternoon you say: Good afternoon! (Good afternoon!) When itʼ’s evening you say: Good evening! (Good evening!)



Teacher: Good morning, _̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲!

Teacher: Good morning, _̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲!

You: Good morning, _̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲! You: Good morning, _̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲!



When you want to sound a little more casual you can say: Morning! (Morning!)





Practice greeting your teacher in different situations.

1)      afternoon

Teacher: Good afternoon, _̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲! Teacher: Good afternoon, _̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲!

2)      evening

A greeting that can be used at any time is: Hello! (Hello!)
A more casual greeting that can be used at any time is: Hi! (Hi!)

Teacher: Hello, _̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲!

You: Hello, _̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲! You: Hello, _̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲!

You can also greet someone by saying: How are you? (How are you?)
You can reply by saying: Iʼ’m fine. How about you? (Iʼ’m fine. How about you?)

Teacher: Hi _̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲, how are  you?

Next, change roles.


More expressions for replying:

ŸŸ   Great! (Great!)
ŸŸ   Fine! (Fine!)

Your teacher will ask you “How are you?”. Reply with the new expressions youʼ’ve learned.



Step 4 ( Step 4 )




When you want to thank someone you say: Thank you! (Thank you!)
When you want to thank someone more casually you say: Thanks! (Thanks!) You can reply by saying: Youʼ’re welcome. (Youʼ’re welcome.)
A more casual reply is: My pleasure. (My pleasure.)



Teacher: Thank you, _̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲_̲.

When you want to apologize to someone you say: Iʼ’m sorry. (Iʼ’m sorry.)
When you want to apologize to someone more casually you say: Sorry. (Sorry.) You can reply by saying: Itʼ’s OK. (Itʼ’s OK.) or Never mind. (Never mind.)
